Marvellous Macarons

IMG_9437a

Uhm, hi… I thought I should quickly stop by and convince you of my existence. No excuses for the last few months. Real life caught up with me, university, private life, and everything was a bit much. On top of that, I simply lacked the enthusiasm to blog anything at all. Anyway, here I am again, hoping that some of you may still remember me. Yes, I am that girl who occasionally travels to London in order to…do things and…be at places.

Earlier this year, I took my cousin with me when I travelled to “The Smoke” and we took a little trip to the Ladurée shop in Burlington Arcade. She had never tried macarons before and, needless to say, was marvelled by the beauty of the shop as well as the variety of macarons and their deliciousness. So we bought a lot of differently flavoured macarons and made a list according to taste and flavour which you will find below.

The Ultimate Macaron Taste List:

Vanilla: My favourite flavour so far. Very delicious and just the right amount of sweetness.

Rose Petal: I don’t know about you, but I don’t like it. Sure, it does taste a bit like roses, but mostly it just tastes like soap and very artificial.

Chocolate: Very chocolatey, but for me, it’s too bitter. I also don’t like dark chocolate, so maybe that’s why.

Orange Blossom: Same like rose petals. Tastes like old perfume and very artificial.

Coffee: Very nice! It tastes exactly like it should…like coffee.

Coffee Caramel: In my opinion even better than Coffee, because the caramel adds a certain sweetness which I like.

Jasmine: It did taste okay, but isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I guess.

Green Apple: Quite fruity and very much like a real apple. Thumbs up from me.

Lemon: It was okay, but didn’t exactly taste like lemon at all.

Raspberry: Exactly like raspberry, and also very fruity. I like it.

London, London everywhere

IMG_9197

This once again proves…wherever you go, the British have been there before you! At least that’s what I thought when I came across this uber-cool red telephone box. Obviously I’ve seen one before…in London, in Turkey, in a little town at the coast of the North Sea. It almost seems as though it’s the ‘moon’ flag of the British which they put everywhere they’ve been. Pssst, I want one for my room please!

ORLA KIELY SS14

Blog1

There are only a few shows at London Fashion Week that get me very, very excited every season. Not because they’re popular or because they have the best front row celebrities. No. I get excited because I really love to see what the designers come up with that season. Because the clothes and accessories are amazingly beautiful and I would like to buy the whole collection each season. There are only three shows that get me this excited. The Burberry show (though I haven’t seen a collection as beautiful as the AW12 one again which really gave me goose bumps), the Mulberry show (because of obvious eye candy bag reasons) and the Orla Kiely presentation.

I hadn’t been to an Orla Kiely presentation before, but I’ve been to the shop on King’s Road and immediately fell in love with the clothes. So when Orla did a collaboration with Uniqlo, I got a really beautiful dress which is now my favourite dress. It looks chic, reminds me of something vintage and is very comfortable – what’s not to love, really? And now I’ve seen the SS14 collection, I guess I’ll have to go and make a little purchase in the shop next year. I can’t not buy one of those stunning dresses!

……………………………………………..

The Orla Kiely presentation is something special every year. It’s a kind of Fluxus art, performance art. This year, Orla Kiely took us on a safari with her models. The girls were exploring the wilderness, catching butterflies, reading books and relaxing close to the camp fire while the catchy tune “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” was playing. All of the girls were wearing berets and the bags they were carrying, shaped like animals, were super cute. The clothes also didn’t disappoint. Pretty shoes worn with knee socks and 60s dresses adorned with collars. Until next season, hopefully!

LFW – The Street Style

There are a lot of people on the streets of London during Fashion Week every season. People with different styles and clothes. There are…

The Chic & Trendy

…and many other fashion types. I would probably wear something inbetween all of those types. A bit of everything you could say. Something chic, something trendy, something cute and weird, something plain maybe. A simple black and white look, a bow in my hair and a Mulberry bag on my arm. Here’s an outfit which you can shop at Selfridges. Something which I would wear to LFW.

Snow White Blood Red

IMG_6156a

I, as well as a lot of other people, thought it was March, but apparently we were all very wrong. It seems we skipped spring, summer and autumn and went straight back to winter. I’m not very amused by the whole thing as I’m going to fly to London again this Friday and I would appreciate it if my flight wasn’t cancelled due to heavy snow fall. On a much brighter side, I’ve never really seen London covered in snow, so I’m looking forward to it in a way. If I could choose next week’s weather however, I’d go for sun, and lots of it please!

I’d have loved to take these photos outside, but the weather’s not exactly better in Germany (although I can see the sun right now), and it’s pretty cold. What do you think of the hair colour by the way? I didn’t dye it (yet), but I reaaally want red hair! Do you think I should dye it that colour, or should I leave it like it is?

The blouse is from H&M, the skirt from Jones & Jones for Topshop (I did a blog post about them last month) and everything else I either can’t remember or it’s self-made (like the ‘LONDON’ statue).

Oh, and one more thing: I need spring!!!

Cupcakes, Bobas and Dorayaki

IMG_5882a

Last month, when I was in London, I of course couldn’t leave out a visit to Lola’s cupcake counter in Harrods and Bubbleology in Soho. They’re some of the few places I’ll go to every time I’m in London. As it was afternoon (tea) time and my friend’s and my feet started to hurt, we were looking for somewhere to eat and drink something and, most importantly, sit down. Because we were shopping in Harrods, I got the idea of paying a little visit to the Food Hall, the Lola’s cupcake counter in particular. I bought two Red Velvet cupcakes, but my friend didn’t want cupcakes and we couldn’t find anything to sit down, so instead we went to Piccadilly Circus with the tube. There’s that small Japanese supermarket where I always wanted to go to and as my friend loves Asian food we went there to get her something to eat. I had no idea what all the things they sold were, but everything looked pretty delicious so I bought..well, something (maybe someone knows what those things in the picture above are). My friend got Dorayaki’s, Japanese sweets that are quite a bit like pancakes. From there we went to Bubbleology in Soho, just a 5 minute walk from Piccadilly Circus. My favourite Bubble Tea store, looking very much like a mad scientist’s lab.
