When I heard about the new Orla Kiely x Uniqlo collection I got so excited! It’s already the 2nd collection Kiely has created for Uniqlo. Orla Kiely is a brand which, as soon as I first discovered it, quickly became one of my favourites. I’m still saving for one of those lovely vintage-style dresses (psst, my favourite is the Tiny Dragonfly Print Silk Organza Dress in gold, so if you want to get me something for Christmas..*wink*), and I didn’t know I’d own one so soon! Orla Kiely’s first collection for Uniqlo was mainly T-shirts, but this one also includes scarves, blouses and dresses! I got this pink dress. The colour looks great and I heart the colour!
I discover and read a lot of new blogs every week, but there are only a few blogs that I read every day- the ones I reeeeally enjoy due to a number of reasons. I love to see pretty pictures, outfit posts, hotel and restaurant reviews, afternoon tea posts and what other people’s weeks and months were like. Here is a list of those few blogs that I really love.
Number 1: WishWishWish
Carrie, the Outfit Post Queen! I adore her style (and hairdos)!
Number 2: Thecherryblossomgirl
Another great outfit blogger! She gets invited to a lot of ah-mazing events and spends a lot of time in Asia.
Number 3: Seaofshoes
Although she’s really famous in the blogosphere, I discovered her blog only a few weeks ago – and immediately fell in love. She’s got some of the BEST pictures and her red hair is gorgeous!
Number 4: Libertylondongirl
The very first blog I ever read (when Sasha still lived in NYC). Sasha has the loveliest little dog and she travels a LOT (even more than I do!).
Number 5: The Wild Fleur
All the things I love on one blog! Also the cutest blog I’ve ever seen.
Number 6: Boymeetsfashion
Fashion, fashion, fashion! Jaime blogs about all the fashion events in and around London. He loves bow ties (as do I!).
Number 7: DearestDeer
A new blog by a girl with great taste in fashion and beautiful pictures.
Number 8: AGirlAStyle
A life between fashion and politics. Lots of eye candy on Briony’s blog: Mulberry, Lulu Guinness, Chanel and fashion week posts.
Number 9: Teatimeinwonderland
A blog about everything London – events, art galleries etc. Plus great afternoon tea and restaurant reviews!
Number 10: NotJustAnotherMilla
Another afternoon tea and restaurant reviewer. The best food pictures – I get really hungry reading Milla’s blog.
Number 11: Fashionpearlsofwisdom
If you love Vivienne Westwood, this is the blog for you! Not only does Pearl share a name with Dame Vivienne, she also seems to share her wardrobe.
Number 12: Shinythoughts
Lucy lives with Carrie in London, has launched Wish magazine with her and is part of the ‘Take 10’ bloggers.
Number 13: DonnaCoulling
Celebrity PA, QVC knitwear presenter, mum of a 6-year-old and runs her own seminars. Donna blogs about hotels, restaurants and her life as a Celeb PA.
Number 14: Delightfully Tacky
Wonderfully bonkers girl with amazingly weird taste in fashion (which I love!).
Number 15: The Pineneedle Collective
Pink hair, socks in heels, vintage clothes. She’s got the best dresses and vintage fashion. I’d love to have her wardrobe!
Number 16: Keikolynn
A very beautiful girl who does fantastic outfit and style posts – almost always with her glasses!
Number 17: Secret PA
A very funny and really interesting blog by a Personal Assistant to two music event directors – ‘Pepper’ and ‘Scarlet’. I love her posts!
Number 18: Rocknrollbride
I met her at the Wedding Show exactly a year ago. She’s the best wedding blogger!
Number 19: Misspandora
Her blog posts definitely have got style! She gets inspired by old portraits.
Number 20: worrierprincess
I met her this summer and she’s a really lovely girl. She blogs about various events in London, beauty and fashion.
In August, my friend Jo and I went to the Heath in Hampstead to do a little photoshoot. Actually we wanted to try and find the Pergola – the perfect background for a fashion shoot – , but that proved to be almost impossible as it started to rain and we realised the Pergola was at the other end of the Heath. We went to the fun fair, had a little picnic (with Charbonnel et Walker truffles) and took pictures of the Viaduct pond. We also tried to hide from people to take photos of ourselves..
This is a very touristy take on London. If you weren’t born in London, maybe you can still remember the first time you were there. Standing on the left side on your way to the tube and getting pushed out of the way by Londoners who are in a rush; thinking Camden market is the best shopping place ever…until that ‘real leather’ bag you bought there a week ago falls apart; aaahing and oohing at everything on Bond Street and in Harrods; getting the wrong tube because you haven’t quite figured out the tube system yet – and being too scared to take the bus because the bus system is even worse; thinking ‘Oh look, it’s a black cab/red bus/red phone box!’ every time you see one. Those are some of the (embarrassing) experiences I had on my first time in London. Now I rarely do tourist things when I’m there and I had the feeling I’m missing out on something, so I decided I’d play tourist in London for a week. Which is what I did…
The first thing on the programme was The Tower of London and the Crown Jewels. The weather was awful that day and I lost my dear Lulu Guinness umbrella (RIP umbrella). It was still really interesting, I love British history! They showed the coronation ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. and I have to admit, I did have a little tear in my eye. The crown jewels were simply spectacular!
What did I tell you about the weather…? It looks sunny, but that impression is deceptive!
On I went along the Thames to St Paul’s Cathedral. I’ve seen it about a hundred times, but never from the inside. And what a view you can get from the top! It was truly breathtaking.
And gone was the first day of my sightseeing week.
The 2nd day, Wednesday, began with a little private sightseeing tour on a small bus which was also quite interesting, but a bit boring as they didn’t tell me anything I didn’t know yet. I also met Colin Firth, Prince Harry, the Queen, David Cameron and Amy Winehouse that day…in Madame Tussauds, of course! What I loved most about Madame Tussauds was the 4D cinema – very funny!
In the evening I saw Mamma Mia, the musical. 2nd best musical I’ve seen in London (after Sweeney Todd)! Let’s just put it this way: Stalls H12, 3rd row, right in front of the stage!! The best seat I ever had. Well, for 64 pounds.. Anyway, I looooooooooove Abba so much! My all time favourite song’s ‘Dancing Queen’ by the way. I got chills when ‘Donna’ sang ‘The Winner Takes It All’! Tears, I tell you, lots of tears. At the end everyone was dancing to ‘Dancing Queen’. It was so much fun! And the Novello Theatre is beautiful.
There’ll be ‘A Very Touristy London Photo Diary – Part 2’ on the blog soon! xx
Yes, I’m going mad(d) for all the delicious mango desserts at MADD in Soho! Whoever loves mangoes – and you should, they’re healthy! – will definitely love this little dessert bar! There’s mango pudding, mango cheesecake, mango panna cotta, coconut mango sago, mango smoothies, lassis and milkshakes!
I won their Facebook guessing game last month, so I met up with Milla of notjustanothermilla.com to try the yummy mango maddness. I had a mango cheesecake with strawberry bobas, cream and strawberry sauce on top. Milla chose a little red cupcake. My cheesecake tasted great and I loved the topping.
