I seriously can’t believe it’s been four years since I went to the North of England and Scotland! It was a school trip in 2009 and the first (and so far only) time I’ve been to that part of the UK and also the first time I’ve ever been to GB in general. Way back in 2009, this blog didn’t exist yet, and I never got around to blogging about previous holidays, which actually is a real shame. Now it’s no coincidence that I’m posting memories and pictures of this trip now of all times. This summer I’m moving to England (London), and I can remember that when our ferry left Hull back in 2009, I said something along the lines of “This definitely wasn’t the last time I’ve been here.” Something which proved to be very true as I’ve been to England over nine times since then.

During the two weeks we were in Northern England and Scotland, we went to places like York, Whitby, Knaresborough, Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, St Andrews and stayed in Scarborough and Stirling.

It’s the colour trend this season: white! A simple, but effective colour. It adds something very sophisticated to ever outfit. Selfridges has chosen the white colour trend as its first seasonal commandment, and so have I. Why not wear head-to-toe white when you can? I’ve chosen two outfits. The first one is a white maxi dress combined with a cardie by H&M, a white pearl necklace and leather bracelet, my Chanel bag and light pink heels. For the second outfit, I’ve changed the dress to a shorter one in which I look a bit like a snowflake. I’ve also chosen white tights to go with that dress, and with the pink shoes I think the outfit looks really great. You can get the whole look at Selfridges.

I’m sorry I didn’t really have time to post anything new in the past few weeks. I spent some time in London again and the rainy and cloudy weather didn’t exactly do anything to brighten up my mood, so I guess I just had a little creative crisis. But – I’m back again with some sunny spring outfit pictures! And it was about time spring arrived!

I, as well as a lot of other people, thought it was March, but apparently we were all very wrong. It seems we skipped spring, summer and autumn and went straight back to winter. I’m not very amused by the whole thing as I’m going to fly to London again this Friday and I would appreciate it if my flight wasn’t cancelled due to heavy snow fall. On a much brighter side, I’ve never really seen London covered in snow, so I’m looking forward to it in a way. If I could choose next week’s weather however, I’d go for sun, and lots of it please!

I’d have loved to take these photos outside, but the weather’s not exactly better in Germany (although I can see the sun right now), and it’s pretty cold. What do you think of the hair colour by the way? I didn’t dye it (yet), but I reaaally want red hair! Do you think I should dye it that colour, or should I leave it like it is?

The blouse is from H&M, the skirt from Jones & Jones for Topshop (I did a blog post about them last month) and everything else I either can’t remember or it’s self-made (like the ‘LONDON’ statue).

Oh, and one more thing: I need spring!!!

Last month, when I was in London, I of course couldn’t leave out a visit to Lola’s cupcake counter in Harrods and Bubbleology in Soho. They’re some of the few places I’ll go to every time I’m in London. As it was afternoon (tea) time and my friend’s and my feet started to hurt, we were looking for somewhere to eat and drink something and, most importantly, sit down. Because we were shopping in Harrods, I got the idea of paying a little visit to the Food Hall, the Lola’s cupcake counter in particular. I bought two Red Velvet cupcakes, but my friend didn’t want cupcakes and we couldn’t find anything to sit down, so instead we went to Piccadilly Circus with the tube. There’s that small Japanese supermarket where I always wanted to go to and as my friend loves Asian food we went there to get her something to eat. I had no idea what all the things they sold were, but everything looked pretty delicious so I bought..well, something (maybe someone knows what those things in the picture above are). My friend got Dorayaki’s, Japanese sweets that are quite a bit like pancakes. From there we went to Bubbleology in Soho, just a 5 minute walk from Piccadilly Circus. My favourite Bubble Tea store, looking very much like a mad scientist’s lab.

There are lots of things to be learned at LFW each season. One of the main things may be that having a ticket for a show really doesn’t mean you actually get to see the show! Many of the shows are over-subscribed (one show was redefining the term ‘front row’ by making people sit on the floor…) and seated people are left standing or can watch the show from outside (as happened to @TeleFashion). Even the real front rowers looked a bit squished from time to time. Another very important thing is: EVERYTHING is fashion. Absolutely no exception! If someone turned up wearing bananas, it would be fashion. Someone wearing a diaper – fashion. Paper – fashion. It’s the same as with art. Well, you get the picture.. It seems everyone discovers their inner Lady Gaga during Fashion Week.

And I guess it’s time for another Overheard at London Fashion Week post. I’ve spent more time reading all the hilarious ‘overheard’ tweets than watching the actual shows this February. The fashion industry definitely has a sense of humour…hidden somewhere behind the façade. Here we go…

I can’t believe I had never been to Topshop Oxford Street before! My last Topshop post wasn’t posted that long ago and was about a dress I got in the sale at Topshop Strand, but that was about the only Topshop I’d ever been in before. When Jaime (boymeetsfashion.com, one of my favourite bloggers) suggested meeting there in the EAT café downstairs, I had no idea how huge it really is. Five floors and about 90,000 square feet with clothes, a cupcake and frozen yogurt counter and a nail bar, a hair salon where you can bleach and colour your hair or get a blow-dry, and the EAT café. It’s their UK flagship store and, according to wikipedia, it’s the largest fashion store in the world! You can spend – at least – a day in there! On the same floor as the EAT café, lowest floor, they have the most beautiful dresses and skirts and blouses. I think they did that on purpose, as a reward for those customers who make it all the way downstairs without giving up before..

There’s a section, right in front of the café, with dresses and skirts by Jones & Jones. Said dresses are featured in this post. I grabbed about 10 of them as soon as I spotted them. I’ve been looking for dresses like these (petticoats, bows, period opulence) for ages (I think I was born in the wrong decade or even century). Thanks so much to the Jones sisters, who are inspired by London street style and Southern France opulence, for creating these pieces of art.

Primrose Hill is such a lovely place. It’s perfect for a little walk and a nice view of London, and, if you’re lucky, you’ll spot one or two celebrities in ‘London’s Beverly Hills’. Situated between Belsize Park and Camden Town, living in Primrose Hill is pretty convenient I guess. Quiet, lots of green spaces, lovely little cafés and shops. On my way from Camden Town to Belsize Park (they have the best Starbucks ever there; cosy, big and not too many people!), I went to Primrose Hill for a little outfit shoot for my blog with a coat I got in Camden the day before. Thanks to my friend Lisa for taking the pictures.

Usually you’ll find me in shops such as ‘Vanilla’ in Camden, not in the dark gothic stores along the High Street. But as my mission was to find a coat, I thought I’d have a look inside because I’d seen some great coats on the website of ‘Hell Bunny’. And sure enough I found the perfect coat! It’s cute, in my favourite colour (red), with fur and buttons and bows. And it’s warm! I didn’t yet know that a coat can look so chic AND be warm..both at the same time! Amazing, isn’t it?! The dress I’m wearing in these pics is from Orla Kiely for Uniqlo.

It was really cold in Berlin during Fashion Week. -2 °C maximum! Other people thought a thick fur coat, jeans, a wool cardigan and pullover and long boots would be enough to protect them from the cold; I thought a leopard print/ leather jacket, a short mesh/ silk dress, tights and ankle boots would be enough. Guess what? The others were right… I was freezing on my way from the U-Bahn station to the show venue! But will I ever learn from it? No. Sometimes one has to ‘suffer’ to look good. What I have learned however is that you should not buy ankle boots with heels a day before you intend to wear them all day while running through Berlin to get from one show to the next. I almost tripped over several times – which of course had nothing to do with the bubbly we drank at the Lavera Showfloor bar after the Shakkei show..

The ‘background’ in these photos is my friend Zoé’s living room in her flat in Berlin, where we had much fun doing a retro style photoshoot at 3 in the morning after having a midnight tea.
